This month we visited Flambards – a fantastic fun theme park in Cornwall, Helston. It is only 45 minutes’ drive from Hendra and it is a fun-filled day out for all of the family. There is something to please everyone here, with big thrill rides for older children, teenagers and adults, rides for smaller children, Jurassic Journey, Exploratorium, soft play, and outdoor play. You can take a journey back in time too, with Britain in Blitz, a trip back to war-time Britain, or go back further by visiting the Victorian Village.
Thrill rides include Sky-Force, which whizzes high above the Park, 25 metres above the ground exerting a force of up to 3G whilst also spinning. The Skyraker is a twisting ride that takes you up higher and higher until plummeting you back, or Thunderbolt, which twists round and upside down from high above the ground – this one is sure to make you scream! There’s also the Hornet Rollercoaster and Log-flume, which are great family rides, as children over 90cm can be accompanied by an adult on these – my 3-year-old absolutely loved it.
Ferdi the Fox meets and greets children and is most likely to be found in Ferdi’s fun land, near all the rides for smaller children. These rides include the dino express train, tea cups, carousel and swinging pirate ship. There is a demon drop slide and indoor and outdoor play area. The soft play has areas for older children and for small tots and babies.
The Victorian Village was one of my favourite things on the Park, here you can visit a Victorian home, butchers, sweet shop and pub, to name a few. The village includes more than 50 shops, and I was surprised by how big the village was. The Victorian Village has won several national awards for its authentic reconstructions. Here you can also see a true relic of the past, with the ‘time capsule’ chemists’ shop, which lay forgotten and neglected for 100 years, in South Petherton Somerset. It has now found its new home at Flambards, reassembled by Flambards, looking pretty much the same as how it was found – complete with cobwebs!
Britain in the Blitz is another life-sized replica of Britain in the past, this time during World War II. Other exhibitions here include wedding dresses throughout the ages and a collection of prams from the past. These exhibitions were great additions, which will appeal to older children and adults.
Flambards is an exciting day out for everyone, and we had a fantastic time here. Money-off coupons can be found in our Welcome Book, which you will be given to you on check-in. Flambards also offer a 7 day return ticket, so you can come back another time during the week.
