There are so many things to do in Cornwall this October half-term. Cornwall loves Halloween and there are many October events across Cornwall. At Hendra Holiday Park we have a special Halloween line-up this year. The Hendra Pumpkin Patch will be returning, along with other spooky surprises for all ages throughout the October half-term.
Newquay has some fangtastic free Halloween events, plus lots of family-friendly Halloween events at Cornwall attractions. Read on to find out more about these exciting October treats.
Free Halloween Events in Cornwall
There’s lots of spooky happenings stirring in Cornwall. In Newquay there’s lots going on, and the town is just a mile and a half from Hendra Holiday Park.
Spooky Newquay
One of the most anticipated events, Newquay gets spooky! Newquay BID has lots on over October half-term for families, and best of all it is completely free. Most of the fun takes place on the 24th of October, with free Halloween workshops at various locations in the town from 11am – 2pm. Activities include face-painting, spooky stories, plus wound-making workshops.
From 3pm, things take a truly frightening turn, with the town being overrun by zombies and all kinds of spooky sorts! The parade makes its way through Newquay, with different community groups, dance groups, school groups and surprise performers, monsters, and ghouls. The crawl finishes at Sainsbury’s at around 4.30pm.
Throughout the week there’s a spooky trail. This time it is online so you can follow the scares. As well as the trail you can also get a Spooky Newquay Passport. Get your passport stamped at different businesses and locations around the town. Once you have completed your trip, hand it in at Newquay Library with the chance to win prizes.
The Eden Project This October
There are plenty of things to do at the Eden Project this October half-term. A true autumn adventure awaits, combining the magic of nature, storytelling, and spookiness. From the 24th of October until the 1st of November the biomes are brimming with Halloween activity. Follow the freaky fungi trail to learn about the magic of fungi, complete the trail and create your autumn souvenir. There’s more fungi in the fungi Glow Room, an immersive UV forest. Enjoy the spooky storytelling in the Mediterranean Biome, live music and plenty of dancing opportunities with Eden’s Halloween band The Scarecrows, or take a spin on the magical Eden ice rink (extra charge applies). This year the ice rink has been inspired by the Northern Lights. Hendra guests get an exclusive discount to the Eden Project.
Camel Creek at Halloween
One of the best family attractions in Cornwall, Camel Creek has plenty to do any time of year, and even more over Halloween half-term. Enjoy the usual rides, indoor and outdoor play and animals. This Halloween, Camel Creek is the place to spend your school holidays in Cornwall. Book online to save, and get a 7 day return pass. Explore the pumpkin patch, house of horrors with family-friendly frights, witches grotto, family games and spooky disco and a maize maze! There’s just so much to do here over October half term on the 17th and 18th of October and from the 22nd of October until the 1st of November.
Lappa Valley – great for little ones with a paw-fect guest this October half-term
Lappa Valley is packed with activities for the whole family, making it a great choice for the October holidays in Cornwall. Take a nostalgic journey on the train into this idyllic valley. Experience plenty of trains, indoor and outdoor play, swan pedal boats, adventure golf, ride along toys
and more. Plus this half-term, there is a special visitor that little ones will love: the one and only Chase from Paw Patrol! Healeys Cyder Farm – perfect for a Halloween family day out
Autumn is the perfect excuse for a cider, and Healeys is the home of the famous Cornish Rattler. Feast on a range of the Farm’s food, which you can sample before you buy. You may even find a unique Christmas gift or Cornwall souvenir for family and friends. For kids, there’s plenty to keep them entertained with a haunted vintage tractor and pumpkin patch and carving. Crunchy Autumn Walks at The Lost Garden’s of Heligan
Whatever the season, Heligan always brings the magic. Beautiful, spacious and varied gardens; there’s plenty to explore at Heligan. As well as seasonal events throughout autumn and October. Kids will love the adventure playground with plenty of space and play fun, including the jumping pillows. There’s lots of spooky activities too, making it perfect for a family day out in Cornwall. From the 24th October until the 1st of November, there’s lots of scary fun with spooky storytelling and frightening falconry. Dive into the unknown at Blue Reef Aquarium
One of the best indoor family attractions in Cornwall, the Blue Reef Aquarium in Newquay has plenty to see and enjoy. This October half-term, there’s the usual talks and feeds as well as an immersive ‘deeply creepy’ audio trail and trick or touch boxes, plus remember to book in advance and get your Hendra guest discount.
