Days Out With Your Furry Friends…

This county is a pet lovers’ paradise – and Hendra is the number one destination for dog friendly holidays in Cornwall! There are dozens of dog friendly beaches, attractions and destinations for you to visit with your four-legged friends – all within a stone’s throw from our holiday park.

Beach Days With Your Four Legged Friends...

If your pet loves nothing more than running free, swimming in the sea or exploring the great outdoors then Cornwall is the ideal location! Take your pets down to the sea and let them enjoy the sand and the waves as much as you do. Our favourite beaches include Crantock, Fistral, Towan, Holywell, and Watergate bay.

Check our this handy Dog Friendly Beach Guide for a fun-filled day by the sea, and let your pets feel the sand beneath their paws!

Dog friendly Days Out...

You can bring your pet along to many of Cornwall’s top attractions. Take your pick!

Everyone will love Healeys Cyder Farm. Children will enjoy seeing the farm animals and taking a ride on a tractor through the apple orchards. The shop sells the famous Cornish Rattler and many other drinks, ciders and fantastic Cornish produce to enjoy back at Hendra or to take home. Why not visit the the tea rooms for a traditional Cornish Cream Tea?

The Lost Gardens of Heligan is one of Cornwall’s most well-known and popular attractions. Dogs are allowed at Heligan all year round (though because of some livestock, they must be kept on leads).

Heligan has so much to explore, dogs will love the walkways, and variety of landscapes.

Heligan was rediscovered after it succumbed to the brambles after World War Two and wasn’t rediscovered until 1990. Now these thriving gardens feature so much to see, from productive gardens, pleasure gardens, woodland, and even its own jungle complete with one of the longest Burmese Rope Bridges in Britain, stretching 100 feet above ancient tree ferns and across the Jungle floor.

Lappa Valley is a perfect day out for families with little ones. Take a steam train ride through beautiful countryside and arrive at their world of adventure! Check out their Woodland railway and fleet of engines before exploring their play areas! With multilevel indoor soft play, outdoor play grounds and mini golf, this is a great day out in nature.

Places to Eat...

At Hendra well-behaved dogs are welcome in the conservatory area of the Terrace Restaurant, which offers a fabulous choice of food, whatever the time of day.

Dogs are also allowed outside of the Mario’s Pizzeria and Fish and Chip Shop, as well as The Deck Bar, however they are not permitted in the outdoor pool area.

If you want to eat at one of Newquay’s fabulous eating options, you are not short of choice because you have a dog. The Lewinnick Lodge has laid-back vibes, a great menu, complete with local seafood, and fantastic sea views.

The Mermaid is right next to Porth beach, great for pub food, pizzas by the beach and live music at the weekends.

The Fort Inn is in Newquay, with views of Newquay’s picturesque harbour and the bay. A firm favourite for all members of the family. Kids will love the soft play and adults will love the view and food. Winner!

Doggy Bath

We have a dog bathing area at Pine Toilet Block. There are many dog-friendly beaches in Cornwall and your pooch will have the best time, running across the sand and enjoying the sea, and probably having a doggy-paddle!

Now you can give your pet a good wash before they can get your tent, caravan, motorhome or holiday home caravan sandy.

Information for Dog Owners at Hendra

We love dogs at Hendra and want them to feel as welcome as possible so everyone can have an enjoyable holiday!

Well-behaved dogs are welcome in the conservatory area of Terrace Bar and Restaurant, outside of the Mario’s Pizzeria and Fish and Chip Shop, and in the marquee at The Deck Bar. Dogs are not permitted in any indoor areas such as the entertainment venue, or the pool areas, unless they are guide dogs. Please note that dogs must not be left unattended for long periods of time, nor should they disturb other guests in any way.

Feel free to walk your dogs around the site while you are here and enjoy our landscaped park, as long as they are on a lead – you will find dog bowls so they can have a drink, or just ask one of our staff members if you don’t see any!

*Hendra accepts most dog breeds, but please check our terms and conditions for our dog policies. There is a charge to bring your dog with your tent, caravan or motorhome. Prices are per night, and vary throughout the season. We do not allow dogs on the Super, Grand Premium, Silver Leaf or Gold Leaf pitches.

Local Places to Walk Your Dog

At Hendra, we have 80 acres of parkland which are perfect for walking your dog on a lead! Wander around the landscaped roads and walkways, before making the most of our dog walking field (near the Gannel View pet friendly accommodation)! We also have the Blackberry Field – our very own nature reserve with stunning views of the countryside and plenty of places for your furry friends to stretch their legs!

Trenance Gardens and Boating Lake in Newquay is just a short walk from Hendra. Wander around the lake and admire the views, before heading over the road to the colourful gardens and woodland, perfect for pawsome pups!

The South West Coast Path has lots of dog friendly routes! Plan your walk and explore the beautiful coastal paths around Cornwall, making the most of the sun, sea, and pubs along the way to stop for a drink!
