Explore the Coastline
There’s something romantic about the coast in the late autumn. Wrapping up and looking out at the crashing waves and breath-taking coastline. Nearby to Hendra Holiday Park, there are a number of brilliant coastal walks, perfect for autumn. Head to Pentire headland and walk around to Towan headland, with plenty of places to stop for a hot chocolate along the way. You could carry on the walk over past the Huer’s Hut, one of Newquay’s most historic buildings, with history dating back to the 14th century.
Newquay’s coastline has a choice of many bars and restaurants, including one Michelin restaurant on the coastline near Fistral Beach.
Slightly further from Hendra, there’s Crantock, which takes you on the South West Coast Path. You can walk to Holywell from here, and you will see beautiful sea views. You will also see sheep on the cliffs, and can explore Holywell’s dunes.
Head further north and explore the coastal paths of Porth to Watergate and Watergate to Mawgan Porth for more wild coastline.

The Lost Gardens of Heligan Woodland
Of course Cornwall is famed for its coastline, but there are also some excellent woodland walks to explore up and down the county.
Golitha Falls, near St Neot, Liskeard.
Golitha Falls is a great beauty spot on the edge of Bodmin Moor, this area of woodland is on the steep-sided valley gorge with the River Fowey flowing through it in series of amazing cascades! The river is home to salmon and sea trout. This mystical place is a great place to visit at any time of year.
Tehidy Country Park, near Camborne.
This huge woodland has over 9 miles of peaceful woodland and lakes to explore. There is lots of wildlife to spot here, including swans, ducks, squirrels, and otters. There’s a café here, which is open all year round.
Idless Woods, near Truro.
These woods are just 2 miles from the city centre, great for a peaceful walk, with cycle trails too. There’s lots of local wildlife such as deer, otter, and badger.
Cardinham Woods, near Bodmin.
Cardinham woods has mixed woodland ideal for walking, cycling and horse riding. The woodland has deer, buzzard, otter, and kingfisher. The woodland café serves refreshments.

In the summer visiting these places can be challenging, with the crowds and the parking, but at this time of year it’s perfect. Visit these beautiful Cornish towns on your autumn couples break in Cornwall.
Padstow
Known for its foodie scene, and picturesque harbour, along with good coastal walks, cycling path to Wadebridge and views across the Camel Estuary. Padstow is popular in the summer, but on a crisp November day, you still have the views, and many a place to enjoy a drink or bite. Padstow is also home of one of Cornwall’s Michelin restaurants.
Mevagissey
This Cornish fishing town is on the south coast. Cosy, authentic and pretty, Meva is one of Cornwall’s gems. Check out the knitted Mevagissey themed decorations next to the harbour, adding to its local character.
St Ives
One of Cornwall’s most popular spots. St Ives can feel impossible to visit during the summer season. Off-peak, St Ives is still popular, but much quieter. There’s plenty to explore here with interesting shops, galleries, and the all important cafes, restaurants and pubs.
Fowey
Another beautiful Cornish town. Fowey is on the south coast, and is known for its deep harbour, and connections to Daphne Du Maurier who lived around Fowey for much of her life. Fowey and the surrounding areas were a place of inspiration for her famous novel Rebecca. Explore this town’s shops, pubs and cafes.
Port Isaac
A fishing village rather than town, Port Isaac is a picturesque village surrounded by the rugged north coast. Famed for being the location of Doc Martin, the village is very popular with day visitors. Visiting in October or November means that you will be able to explore the village with ease. Port Isaac is also home to two of Cornwall’s Michelin restaurants.

Couples spa days in Cornwall are a must with a range of places to choose from. You can find hotels which offer spa days, as well as pop up saunas by the coastline and saunas, ice and hot tubs available in Newquay and throughout the county.
Relax in a coastal sauna and then go for a wild dip in the sea.

Cornwall is full of fantastic attractions, all of which are perfect for autumn.
Cornwall’s Lost Gardens of Heligan are a firm favourite with couples visiting Cornwall. The gardens have a large woodland area, perfect for an autumn walk. The cafe and restaurant on site uses Heligan grown vegetables.
There are also plenty of activities for couples in Cornwall, including surf lessons by Fistral Beach Surf School. Wetsuits and boards are provided and you can practice surfing the waves at the UK’s best surfing beach.
Or, for a more relaxed sport, try Halwyn for mini-golf or the driving range, as well as excellent food.
Cider lovers will love visiting Healey’s Cyder Farm, with tours available and the opportunity to taste different ciders.
