This year, Hendra is celebrating 50 years of fantastic family holidays! ?
Since opening in 1972, the park has expanded from a small farm into 50 acres of holiday park & 80 acres of landscaped park land, rich with floral displays and wildlife. We’ve installed our indoor Oasis Fun Pools, play parks, skate park, sports field and won awards for our facilities, including our proud 5* rating from Visit England for ‘exceptional quality’.
But one thing that hasn’t changed is that Hendra is still run by the same family who opened it all those years ago! The third generation of the May and Hyatt family are proud to welcome you back for our biggest season yet, as we continue to provide you, our wonderful and loyal guests, with our 5* holiday experience. We have lots of exciting things planned for the season and we can’t wait to celebrate with you!
Events
We have a whole host of amazing events this season for all the family!
In April, we have our Easter Eggs-travaganza! Join in with our fun-filled arts and crafts, 4 days of Easter-themed shows, and our Easter Sunday big egg hunt!
In July, you can see Peppa Pig in person! She will be hanging around The Venue at intervals throughout the day, so bring your camera and your best piggy impression!
In September, we have our amazing dinosaur experience weekend with a terrifying t-rex and a huge triceratops to meet and photograph! Just don’t get too close to their big teeth! We’ll also have some themed activities happening around the site to get you in a roar-some mood.
In October, we have our annual Halloween Spooktacular… the site is transformed into a scary ghost town with creepy decorations. They’ll be themed activities and a pumpkin patch! Bring your best costume and get freaky on the dancefloor. And don’t forget to take a ride on our Hendra ghost train… if you dare! Hop on a train ride around the park, just don’t be afraid of being spooked along the way by characters hiding in the bushes…
We will have a range of seasonal activities running through the year alongside these amazing events, so keep an eye out around site and on our social media for updates!
Food and drink
Our range of eateries will be open as usual for the season!
Our Terrace Bar and Restaurant with Coffee Express Café will be open as usual all season for indoor and outdoor eating. The patio seating area with views over the outdoor pool is the perfect place to unwind in the sun!
Mario’s Pizzeria will also be open where you can sit inside the tasty pizzeria, or lounge about in the outside seating areas with a tasty dinner! They also do takeaway pizzas for you to enjoy in your home from home.
And don’t forget the traditional Fish and Chip Shop – after all, a fish and chip tea is a must whilst staying by the Cornish coast! Both have takeaway options available too.
In peak times, our Deck Bar will be open with live entertainment, so you can enjoy a drink with your takeaway in a chilled atmosphere.
Our on-site Marketplace will also be open for all your holiday essentials, along with hot pastries, toys, and some Cornish food and drink treats such as fudge, Cornish Rattler Cyder, and a wide selection of Tarquins Gin, including the Hendra 50th Gin!
Facilities
Checking In
Our Reception will be open and ready to welcome you to Hendra! You can check in as normal this year by popping into the reception building in person. Once you’re checked in, you can head off and enjoy the facilities on site. When your accommodation is ready, you’ll receive a text to collect their keys. This text system was in place last year and it was very well-received by guests, with great customer feedback. Just let us know when you’re here and you will get a message to let you know when your caravan or pitch is ready. While you’re waiting, there’s plenty to do on site and around Newquay!
Activities
Children will have plenty of fun with our range of play areas, kids entertainment and on-site activities, with extra seasonal events scheduled in peak times, such as our Dance and Football Academy! They will love exploring Henry’s Pirate Play Ship and infant play area, open for outdoor play, along with our scooter and skate park, and our outdoor gym. A firm Hendra favourite, the Hendra Land Train, will be running each morning at 9am around the Park for your family to enjoy with our resident Henry Hippo!
For the little ones, we also have our indoor Henry’s Playloft soft play for children aged ten and under, which you can book when you here – its free for anyone with an entertainment pass!
Pools
Our Oasis Fun Pools will be open as usual, with 3 flumes, giant water tap, river rapids and toddler areas! The outdoor pool will be open seasonally from May half term to September, weather dependant. The indoor pool will have an online booking system in place. You’ll be able to book up your sessions in advance of your stay.
Launderette
Our launderette will also be open as usual with coin operated machines, as well as our touring facilities and award-winning toilets.
Staying With Us
Whether you’re looking for a caravan, or touring pitch, we have all the facilities to make your holiday 5* and memorable. As well as our range of budget, classic, premium and lodge holiday homes, we’ve had a special delivery for 2022! Our brand new Crantock caravan range will be up and running for our 50th season, bringing you a premium holiday experience!
We’ve been busy renovating the site and you may see some exciting changes when you arrive! Our reception, Terrace Bar and Restaurant and The Venue have all been refurbished, and we have a new addition to our entrance roundabout. Plus, we have a brand-new shop from a very popular retailer! We can’t wait to reveal all to you soon!
Exploring Cornwall
Now that the restrictions from Covid-19 are hopefully behind us, Cornwall is open and ready to welcome you to it’s beautiful beaches and amazing attractions! There’s so much to see and do while you’re here. Check out our favourite places to visit before you arrive so you can start putting together a bucket list – we have popular destinations as well as quiet places to escape the crowds!
And don’t forget our Hendra blog, filled with a range of suggestions for your stay, with something for everyone in the family – little ones and those young at heart! We will keep updating it as the season unfolds, so keep checking back for ideas for your holiday, and plan your break before you arrive!
Supporting the Local Community
Cornwall is so excited to have you back. Now more than ever, it is so important to support our many local businesses and attractions so they can keep bringing you amazing memories and tasty food for years to come!
The county will also be running its annual events through the year such as Porthleven Food festival (April), Roseland Festival (April-May), Fowey Festival of Arts and Literature (May). Falmouth Sea Shanty Festival (June), Tunes in the Dunes (June), Penzance Literary Festival (July), Newquay Sessions (July), Rock Oyster Festival (July), Boardmasters Festival (August), and Fowey Regatta and Carnival Week (August).
