Introduction

Here at Hendra, we want everyone to be able to enjoy a Hendra Holiday. Making our holidays accessible for everyone is something that we want to achieve and develop. Our staff are always happy to help and improve the Park for everybody for those who have a disability or reduced mobility, a visual impairment, autism, or a disability – hidden or otherwise.

Hendra is a member of the  Sunflower Scheme for Hidden Disabilities, which gives us access to training for all staff so that we can raise awareness of hidden disabilities and how we can be as helpful and accommodating as possible.

Quiet Sessions

Hendra strives to be as accessible as possible. As well as accessibility, we also have a Quiet Sessions, in the Oasis Fun Pool and Henry’s Playloft, as well as our Quiet Space; a lower sensory, play area, which can be used exclusively by your family and group. You can get the keys from the Playloft.

Accessible Kynance Holiday Home

Our holiday home range, the Kynance is our wheelchair friendly accessible holiday home. Designed specifically for easy access. Featuring two bedrooms with two single beds and an easy access ramp, a beautiful 15ft galley kitchen, bespoke wet room and additional space to make life that little bit easier.

We’ve also added ramps to a number of other holiday homes, such as the Mawgans and Godevys, that are situated in areas closer to the main facilities. To request a ramp access holiday home, please do call on 01637 875778 or email, bookings@hendra-holidays.com

Touring and Camping

Hendra strives to be as accessible as possible.

Staff are more than happy to advise on the location of pitches and suitability for your requirements – please inform us during the booking process so we can accommodate for your needs.

Pine and Maple Shower and Toilet Block has a disabled toilet with handrails, shower, shower seat, toilet, sink and separate chair.

Parking is permitted on each touring and camping pitch, with the exception of our family friendly camping fields (Tamarisk & Ash). Parking is readily available next to Sycamore block. There is also a large disabled parking bay located directly outside of Pine block.

Our overflow fields are located at a further distance from the main public areas and are not serviced by tarmac roads.

Autism and Dementia Friendly

Autism friendly accommodation

Our teams are available to discuss any requirements you may have, and to help you select the perfect accommodation and location to suit you and your family. We’ve also added 360 to our holiday home pages, so you can familiarise yourself with the layout of your accommodation before visiting. To view these tours, simply select the range that you have booked and click on ‘Virtual Tour’.

Safe surroundings

Our park has plenty of open space to explore. We recommend taking a walk to the peaceful Blackberry Field, which we have allocated specifically for taking a quiet walk and exploring nature. Follow the grass path and enjoy peaceful surroundings amongst the wildlife.

Hidden Disabilities Sunflower

This year Hendra Holiday Park have joined the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Scheme.

The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower is a simple tool for people to voluntarily share that they have a disability or condition that may not be immediately apparent – and that they may need a helping hand, understanding, or more time in shops, at work, on transport, or in public spaces.

By supporting this scheme we have made staff aware of the hidden disabilities, and how to accommodate them on Park

 

Dietary Requirements

To cater for all food allergens and intolerances .We’ve also created a separate gluten-free menu which can be accessed via request prior to arrival or on arrival at The Terrace Restaurant.

We have a detailed allergen folder in each restaurant which can be accessed if you wish to know the details of any meals.

Accessible Activities

At Hendra we have lots of activities to suit everyone, depending on your interests and requirements – we are sure that you will find something that you will love!

  • Make a Bear create your unique, cuddly and cute friend, with Make a Bear. Choose your bear’s clothes and colour: creative and cuddly! Selected dates at The Venue, which is fully accessible. This is a chargeable activity. 
  • Design your own T-shirt: Get crafty with magical fabric pens and a variety of stencils to help with inspiration. The perfect souvenir to take home with you! That way, you can remember this special holiday for years to come! Selected dates at The Venue, which is fully accessible. This is a chargeable activity. 
  • Get messy with arts and crafts! Be as creative as you want to be with this fun daytime activity, including a special visit from Henry Hippo! Selected dates at The Venue, which is fully accessible. This is a chargeable activity. 
  • Pick up a self-guided Nature Activity Sheet from Reception and explore the park in your own time. Learn about nature and discover a whole new world right on your doorstep! This is a free, self-guided activity.
  • Join us on a Pirate Hunt around the park! Head off on a jolly adventure with your trusty Captain and find the clues around the site to uncover the hidden treasure. Selected dates, this is a free activity.
  • The Hendra Land Train will be running daily at 9:00 am each morning from the Train Stop. Join Henry and the team on a trip around the park! This is a free activity! Read more about accessibility on the Hendra Land Train, below.
  • Movie Time at The Venue. You’re welcome to bring any food and drinks purchased in the Terrace into the Venue. The family friendly movie will vary. This is a free activity!
