Our 3-Day Itinerary for Couples’ Holidays in Cornwall This Autumn

Day 1: Coastal Walks and Ultimate Relaxation

Morning:
Start your break with a leisurely breakfast right here on the park at the Terrace Bar and Restaurant. Overlook the pool on the terrace or hide away in a cosy booth. We offer hearty full English breakfasts along with vegan and vegetarian options.

Once fuelled up, head to the coast and awaken your senses! Take a stomp along the surrounding coastline to Crantock, just a short trip from Hendra Holiday Park. Or, when the tide is out, you can walk to Crantock from the Gannel Estuary – just be sure not to get cut off! Enjoy a romantic picnic on the beach, or head back to your pitch or accommodation for a well-earned rest.

Afternoon:
After a busy morning, enjoy a more relaxed afternoon. Cornwall has many coastal spas to book for the afternoon, offering stunning sea views. There are also pop-up saunas along the coastline – perfect for warming up and unwinding after a refreshing dip in the sea.

Evening:
In the evening, choose from one of Cornwall’s many restaurants. Research the local area and find what you fancy: fine dining in Padstow, a cosy pub with a roaring fire to warm you both on autumn evenings, or a beachside sunset picnic. Autumn sunsets in Cornwall are especially magical – share fish and chips under a blanket, with a glass of something special or a sweet hot chocolate in hand.

Day 2: Markets and Gardens

Morning:
Browse a local farmers’ market. Newquay hosts one on Bank Street on the 1st Saturday of every month, under white gazebos. On the 3rd Saturday of each month, you’ll find one at Project 83, Wesley Yard, where you can pick up a variety of tasty local produce.

September is also the time for Truro’s Food Festival, held from 24th–28th September. Cornwall’s charming capital, with its cobbled streets and Georgian architecture, is well worth a visit. Held in Lemon Quay, the festival offers everything from Cornish cheeses, meats, street food, craft beer, wine, and sweet treats. There are also demos and workshops by renowned Cornish chefs – a must for food lovers.

Over on the south coast, Falmouth, rich in maritime history, hosts the Falmouth Oyster Festival from 9th–12th October, celebrating the start of the oyster dredging season. Expect seafood, cooking demos, and lively festivities.

Afternoon:
Head to one of Cornwall’s beautiful gardens. Our sub-tropical gardens are almost as famous and beloved as our coastline. Near Falmouth, you’ll find Glendurgan Gardens, with its maze and private beach, and Trebah, bursting with colourful blooms – a delight for explorers.

Cornwall’s garden jewel is, of course, The Lost Gardens of Heligan. Near Pentewan on the south coast, these gardens offer acres of exploration – from working farms and traditional gardens to a Cornish jungle complete with a Burmese rope bridge. Stock up on local produce at the farm shop or enjoy a meal made from garden-fresh ingredients.

Evening:
Return to your accommodation or pitch and prepare a cosy Cornish feast, then head to The Beach House for a classy cocktail. Afterwards, enjoy live entertainment at The Venue, featuring top local acts – from live music to comedians and shows.

Day 3: Cornish Legends and Idyllic Towns & Villages

Morning:
Cornwall is full of legends – from tales of smugglers and ghosts to mythical creatures roaming the moors.

Visit Tintagel, one of Cornwall’s most famous landmarks, steeped in Arthurian myth and legend.

Alternatively, explore the charming village of Zennor and discover the tale of the Mermaid of Zennor. Later, enjoy its traditional pub with a pint or a coffee.

Afternoon:
No trip to Cornwall is complete without visiting a fishing town or village, sampling a Cornish pasty, and indulging in a cream tea.

Picturesque fishing towns worth visiting include St Ives, Fowey, Padstow, Mevagissey, Charlestown, and more. Each boasts scenic beauty, cobbled streets, narrow lanes, and its own distinctive charm.

Whichever you choose, be sure to enjoy a hot, flaky Cornish pasty while taking in the scenery. Then treat yourself to a Cornish cream tea – in Cornwall, the jam goes on first, followed by clotted cream. Pure heaven!

Evening:
Head back to Hendra Holiday Park and enjoy one of our four eateries (if you’ve got room!), or simply relax with a cosy evening in before departing tomorrow. We’ve loved having you here.
