Adventure Holidays in Cornwall

Looking for adventure? Well look no further than Cornwall, and even better, Newquay! Hendra Holiday Park is centrally located for your adventure holidays in Cornwall.

For couples who want an adventure in Cornwall, Hendra is a great base, with a range of accommodation to suit all budgets

Hendra Holiday Park, is just a mile and a half away from Newquay, where adventure awaits on the town’s 7 beaches.

Surfing

Think Newquay, think surfing. They go hand-in-hand! So when in Newquay, head to Fistral Beach. England’s surfing capital, and site of many surf competitions throughout the year.

Fistral Beach Surf School is the only surf school at Fistral. They offer a range of lessons to suit everyone from complete beginners, to improvers and intermediates.

Or just hire some boards, hit the waves, and have some fun!

Coasteering

Fistral Beach Surf School also does coasteering alongside a surfing lesson. Explore, jump and climb the coastline, see a variety of wildlife, and experience the natural elements in all of their glory.

South West Coast Path

Whether you want to hike for miles, or go for a quick jaunt, whatever you choose, you will be treated to a range of brilliant views across the big blue.

The South West Coast Path has had its moment in the spotlight this year, with the film based on the book, The Salt Path, coming out in cinemas earlier in the year (with the premiere at Newquay’s Lighthouse Cinema in the spring).

Stretches of coastline to explore locally include from the cliffs of Whipsiderry to either Watergate Bay, or Mawgan Porth which is further on.

Newquay also has great stretches of coastline to stomp, with views overlooking the harbour, Fistral and Crantock.

Or try St Agnes Heritage coast, further down from us on the north coast. With blue seas and wild flowers, along with old engine houses and remnants of Cornwall’s mining heritage.

Then there’s the south coast, with walks around Porthcurno, where the unique Minack Theatre, carved into the rocks, sits and overlooks this much famed and photographed, white sand beach.

Explore the Lizard coastline for much wild life, dramatic coast, and it is home to another famous Cornwall beach: Kynance Cove. Kynance is known for it’s turquoise sea and interesting rock formations.

The Lizard is the UK’s most southerly point too.

Dog-Friendly Beach Adventures

When the summer season ends, many of the dog restrictions are lifted. Though, many beaches are open for dogs all year round in Newquay. Popular beaches such as Fistral, Crantock and Towan Beach. Fistral and Crantock offer ample space for dogs who like plenty of space to run.

Further afield there’s Perranporth, a fun beachside town, with a big beach to explore. Also Mawgan Porth, a small seaside town, with some celebrity fans and rumored residents lately. Including Cate Blanchett, Chris Martin, and rock and roll legend, Noel Gallagher who have all been spotted here.

Find out about our dog-friendly accommodation and camping and touring pitches here.

Paddling Boarding and Kayaking

Another favourite with adventurers and those living on the Cornish coast. A more relaxed adventure than surfing, suited to calmer waters. Check out Porth Beach, especially at high-tide, which is a popular beach for paddle boarding, as well as the Gannel Estuary, which meets the sea at Crantock Beach.

There are several places that you can hire equipment from in Newquay so you can start your paddle boarding or kayaking adventure.

Lost Gardens of Heligan

A more chilled adventure, but still a real adventuress treat. Discover this garden, rediscovered over 30 years ago, after it was neglected after World War One.

Now the gardens are one of Cornwall’s most treasured attractions, with a range of different gardens to explore. From traditional gardens, to productive gardens, farm land and Heligan’s very own jungle, complete with a rope bridge. There are numerous events on throughout the year and tasty food at Heligan Kitchen and Bakery, Steward’s House, Heligan takeaway and more. The food outlets have food sourced from the gardens.
