We open on April the 12th (Government Guidelines permitting) and even though we are not permitted to open everything under Government Restrictions, you can still make great Hendra memories.
Hendra is 49 this year, meaning it has almost been 50 years of fantastic family holidays! We plan to make the last year of our forties fabulous, no matter what, and can’t wait to celebrate with you!
What you can do at Hendra from the 12th of April
From the 12th of April to the 17th of May, you will be able to stay in one of self-contained holiday home caravans, all cleaned to the highest standard to keep you safe. You are only allowed to stay with your family who live with you, or in your support bubble (please check what a support bubble is here, if you are unsure). Self-contained touring caravans or motorhomes are permitted, though these must have functioning toilets and showers, as our communal blocks aren’t permitted to be open at this time.
Our Terrace Bar and Restaurant and Coffee Express Café are open for outdoor table service overlooking the pool or under our decked area for your family or support bubble. Mario’s Pizzeria is also open where you can eat outside, or under the outside marquee on the deck bar. So, you can enjoy a meal cooked for you and relax. They are also all open for a takeaway service, along with our Fish and Chip Shop – after all, a fish and chip tea is a must whilst staying by the Cornish coast. The Deck Bar is open for a table operated bar service in the school holidays.
The Hendra Marketplace is open for all your essentials, along with some Cornish food and drink treats such as fudge and Cornish Rattler Cyder – cheers!
Salt Rock is open, selling comfortable clothing perfect for exploring the coast. Reception is open and ready to welcome you to Hendra, where there will be a swifter check-in process and a telephone and email customer service in place to help you with your needs and to keep you safe. This was in place last year and it was very well-received by guests, with great customer feedback. The laundrette is open too.
Children will still have plenty of fun with Henry’s Pirate Play Ship and infant play area, open for outdoor play, along with our scooter and skate park, and the outdoor gym. A firm Hendra favourite, the Hendra Safari Train, will be running each morning around the Park for your family to spot some Hendra wildlife.
The outdoor pool is usually closed at this time of year, but if we do have some lovely sunny weather (crossed fingers!) then we will open the outdoor pool, with safe procedures in place.
There will also be Segway Tours (which must be pre-booked), likened to riding a magic carpet, this experience is not to be missed – click here to find out more! This will be run by Cornwall Segway, from the Oasis Fun Pool.
Newquay and Cornwall’s beautiful beaches are there for your enjoyment, with some outdoor attractions open too. We have a guide of what’s on in Cornwall here!
What you can’t do right now (but hopefully can soon!)
All indoor facilities will remain closed until at least the 17th of May. So, this includes the Oasis Fun Pool (some pools can open, but we cannot operate as we cannot accept multiple households indoors), the activities that operate at Oasis (scuba diving etc.) will remain closed. Henry’s Playloft, the pool room, the Amusement Arcades, and the toilet and shower blocks (no tents for this time, sorry) are closed.
The Venue is also closed, which Henry and Henrietta are very sad about, but they look forward to playing as soon as they can – keep a look out for them on social media, where Sacha and Henry will be live on Facebook – make sure you have liked and followed our page to see when they are live on social!
No indoor mixing is allowed in the accommodation. You can meet outdoors: the rule of 6 applies or meeting with one other household is permitted, with social distancing in place.
From the 17th of May
You can stay in our accommodation, or on one of our pitches with your caravan, motorhome or tent, with your household or your household and one more household or up to 6 people. So, you could holiday with one other family. Up to 30 people can meet outdoors. The toilet and shower blocks are open but will be closed for regular cleaning.
All facilities listed above are still open, and now our indoor activities re-open. We are really looking forward to welcoming you to enjoy the splash-tastic Oasis Indoor Pool’s, for pre-booked sessions (with social distancing in place). The Amusement Arcades re-open and we will be able to seat people inside at the Terrace Bar and Restaurant, Coffee Express Café and Mario’s Pizzeria. Takeaway will still be available here and at the Hendra Fish and Chip Shop. The Deck Bar is open for table service in the half-term. Sacha and her Team are pleased that they will be able to open The Venue for entertainment (there will be some restrictions and pre-booking in place).
Now there is even more to explore in Newquay and Cornwall, from beaches, countryside, gardens, and outdoor and indoor attractions. We have a guide of what’s on in Cornwall here!
What you can’t do (but the list is getting shorter!)…
Henry’s Playloft still remains closed, due to the size and not being able to social distance. Henry really hopes to re-open it soon. The Oasis activities will remain closed for the time being, along with the pool room. You cannot holiday with people from multiple households if it exceeds six.
