From haunted tours to pumpkin carving, we’re sure that you’ll create unforgettable memories!

1. Explore the Haunted Bodmin Jail:

Embark on a ghostly adventure by visiting Cornwall’s reputed haunted local attraction; Bodmin Jail.

Built in 1779, Bodmin Jail is a historical site rich with history and mystery. Just a 30-minute drive up the A30, Bodmin Jail embraces all things Halloween! Go ghost hunting or join guided tours that delve into the dark tales and ghostly encounters associated with these places. This immersive and interactive experience is not for the faint-hearted so we would recommend this for older children (12+)… if you dare! Brace yourself for an evening of shivers and spooky stories.

Cinema Fright Night is a must-do on a Thursday too! This is one of the best ways to celebrate Halloween in Cornwall so we’re sure you’ll have a fang-tastic time!

 

2. Join the Zombie Walk in Newquay:

On Saturday 28th October, watch the town of Newquay become invaded with terrifying ghosts and zombies!

Why not join in!? Dress up as a spooky character of your choice and parade through the town and the best part is… it’s free! It’s a perfect way to immerse yourself in the Halloween spirit. The atmosphere is electrifying, complete with makeup artists to enhance your zombie look. Shuffle along with fellow zombies and get involved in the creepy festivities. There will also be thrilling workshops, face-painting and pumpkin carving throughout the day! What a great way to have fun with the family!

3. Pumpkin Picking and Carving:

It’s not Halloween without pumpkins and at Hendra, we have got the BEST pumpkin patch that we’ve had so far – thanks to our grounds team!

If you are staying on site with us, you can book onto our pumpkin picking and carving activity via your pre-arrival email 2 weeks before you arrive.

But if you are looking to venture further afield, Healey’s Cyder Farm, located on the outskirts of Truro, is a perfect option for a family-friendly Halloween experience. Board the haunted Vintage Tractor and you’ll be taken to the Healey’s Pumpkin Patch to pick out your very own pumpkin to select out of various shapes and sizes. Afterward, let your creativity run wild as you carve spooky designs into your chosen pumpkins. It’s a Halloween tradition that everyone can enjoy together!

4. Visit the Lost Gardens of Heligan:

Head towards St Austell for a family-filled day out at the Lost Gardens of Heligan and get involved in ‘bug-tacular’ Halloween half term adventures.

For the little ones, an exciting adventure awaits on the ‘Carved Pumpkin Trail.’ Wander through this enchanting path filled with enormous pumpkins carved into eerie characters.
