Beaches.
Our favourite beaches are Towan Beach, as it is easily accessible with a pushchair and you can visit with public transport. Newquay Harbour is always accessible and a nice place to visit with young children (it is a working harbour so some vehicles are accessing the harbour so please be aware of this with little ones).
We also love Porth Beach, which can be accessed via the Atlantic Coaster Porth has a stream for playing. There are toilets too, cafes, ice cream, a beach side pub and more.
Both beaches have lifeguards, please check the RNLI website for more information on times.

The Atlantic Coaster really is a great option for single parents and those not wanting to use a car. Travelling up the coast, it is a good way to see the scenery. Padstow is a picturesque town, with the Lobster Hatchery, recently named the Best Family Attraction in Cornwall, by Muddy Stilettos Awards 2024.
Other great attractions for young children and single parents include Lappa Valley, perfect for train lovers, with lots of outdoor play, multi-story soft play, and ample parking, and just 5 miles from Hendra.
Newquay Zoo is also a brilliant attraction, easily accessible, located just minutes from us near Trenance Gardens. You can get the Newquay Land Train here from Hendra at 9.15am and play at Trenace Park until the Zoo opens at 10am. There’s a variety of animals, from monkeys, red pandas, tropical house, and play areas. Be sure to check-out Trenance Gardens too with beautiful scenery, duck pond, cafes, mini railway and park.
