Over 50 years of Hendra Holiday Park in the Community

Hendra in the Community

Hendra Holiday Park offers holidays in Cornwall, and has been around for over 50 years. We are a well-known fixture in the local community. We like to make sure that we work with our community when we can.

This can range from locals offers, making charitable donations, and employing locally. Read more about the work that we do below.

Working with charities

We work with local charities when possible so we can give something back the Cornwall Community.

Here are some of the ways that we do this:

  • Every year we choose a charity, and we work closely with the local branch fundraisers to raise money for them. We have worked with Cancer Research, Macmillan, Cornwall Mind and the British Heart Foundation.
  • In 2026, our chosen charity is Cornwall Air Ambulance. Cornwall Air Ambulance — the UK’s first air ambulance service, launched in 1987 — delivers vital critical care across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly every day of the year. Operating from its base at Newquay Airport, the charity flies a state‑of‑the‑art Leonardo AW169 helicopter alongside two critical care cars, enabling crews to reach emergencies in around 12 minutes. One in five people who are helped or rescued by CAA are visitors to Cornwall. Guests are invited to donate 50p on booking.
  • If we have last minute availability in the school holidays, we offer breaks to families that wouldn’t usually be able to afford holidays a free stay at Hendra. We do this by speaking to local charities such as Newquay Foodbank and Home Start Kernow.
  • Each Christmas we donate money to Newquay Foodbank. We also donate any left over food, and we have a food donation basket for guests in Reception to donate un-opened and non-perishable food to Newquay Foodbank.
  • We work with The Wave Project, in Newquay.  They work to improve young people’s mental health through surf therapy. At Reception you can donate your pre-loved wetsuits and boards so that they can be cleaned, and stocked in the shop. Not only is this sustainable, but also makes surfing and bodyboarding more affordable and accessible.
  • We work with the local Lions group and provide holidays to families, through them, that struggle to afford at holiday. We also are home to their annual Beer Festival, which raises money for charity.
  • We donate raffle prizes to local charities.
