Hendra Holiday Park has won two awards at the South West in Bloom Awards. Hendra won a Gold award for the Tourism and Leisure category along with the Bruford Cup. The Bruford Cup is for the Best Horticultural Display in the South West. The Awards Ceremony was at St Michael’s Church, Newquay, which took place on Wednesday the 10th of October.

Blooming Beautiful

We like to make the grounds look as beautiful as possible, because not only does it look pretty, but because it contributes to helping the environment.

Hendra’s Director, Jon Hyatt, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have been awarded a Gold Award by the South West in Bloom Judges. We are incredibly proud to have our gardening work at Hendra recognised by the Bruford Cup. These are outstanding achievements by our superb grounds team. The Awards are a result of their hard work, dedication and skill.”

Hendra Holiday Park is committed to Sustainable Tourism.  Hendra has its own Solar Farm, which provides overSome of the flowers at Hendra Holiday Park 70% of the electricity used on the Park. We also have our Biomass boiler, which heats the Oasis Pools using locally sourced wood chips.

South West in Bloom

South West in Bloom is one of eighteen regional/national competitions that make up Britain in Bloom. Britain in Bloom is the biggest horticultural campaign in Europe. The aim of the communities that take part each year is to improve and regenerate by planting trees, flowers, shrubs, and landscaping, as well as recycling projects.

The Newquay in Bloom Judge, Kim Parish said: “I have the honour to travel across the UK judging for Britain in Bloom. Living locally, I am extremely proud of Newquay’s successes. I am particularly proud of the contribution Hendra Holiday Park.

“Their strong environmental principles, as well as their stunning plant displays, has gained them two additional awards this year. The awards are Gold in the business, leisure and tourism section as well as the Bruford Cup. The Bruford Cup is for Best Horticultural Displays in the South West, so it is a brilliant award. There were over 50 entries into the competition which is why this is a fantastic achievement. I warmly congratulate them.”

So, thank you South West and Bloom for this wonderful accolade! We are delighted.
