For those staying on a Hendra’s Toddler break here are five perfect things to do in Newquay with a baby or toddler.
Newquay Zoo is the great place to take a baby or toddler, set in beautiful gardens, with a range of animals to amuse and please your baby or toddler. There is a farm area, with pigs and goats and the opportunity to pet them. Other animals there include monkeys, penguins, red pandas, meerkats, lions and armadillos to name a few. There are play parks, a maze, many a picnic area, along with Café Lemur for good-value tasty food.
Blue Reef Aquarium
The aquarium will keep little eyes fascinated with colourful fish everywhere. Little people will be transfixed in the underwater tunnel with the giant ocean display. There is also the colourful corals, a giant pacific octopus, and black tip reef sharks.
Newquay Harbour is Newquay’s sometimes forgotten gem. It is easily accessible for pushchairs and sheltered out of the wind. Look at the fishing boats, and try to spot a seal, have an ice cream, or simply play and relax in the sun.
Trenance gardens is the perfect place for babies and toddlers. Walk around these lovely gardens and feed the ducks. Enjoy the play park, for toddlers, along with a small train, and paddleboats. There are many cafes to stop for refreshments too including the Lakeside Café, which sells tapas, sandwiches, main meals and cakes, the Heron Tennis Club Café for courtside views, and most recently The Garden at the newly renovated Trenance Cottages with its ditsy décor, homemade cakes and fresh sandwiches. The Garden also has toys for children and a Sunday barbecue (weather permitting) at 3pm.
Little Fistral – Fistral walk
Walk from Little Fistral to Fistral on this pram friendly headland walk. Stop for a drink, or food, and browse the shops by the beach. Most recently there’s Rick Stein’s Fish and Chips, but there are other places to eat and drink here too. There is the Beach Bar, The Fish House, and The Stable. Walk to the other end of Fistral along the path by the golf course and visit Bodhi’s with its locally sourced food and fantastic views.
