Hendra Inspired...
Staff at Hendra Holiday Park are delighted to hand over a cheque for £5000 for the Children’s Hospice South West’s Precious Lives Appeal. We have been fundraising in memory of Joe Way, the inspirational little boy who passed away in May. Joe touched many hearts and is the late son of our Park Manager Matt Way, who lives and works on site with his family.
The money has helped the website set up in his memory –
www.joeway.co.uk
– to pass the £40,000 fundraising mark. That amazing total will go
towards the Precious Lives Appeal which aims to raise £5 million for a
children’s hospice in Cornwall, so that children like Joe - and their
families – have somewhere to go for respite and support.
There have been all sorts of activities at Hendra to raise as much
money as possible, including a bikeathon. Nearly twenty cyclists
pedalled their way around the Camel Trail. Adults and children alike
completed the Wadebridge to Padstow circuit in memory of little Joe.
Many thanks to all the colleagues, friends and family who sponsored the
riders and to Sophie Burgess who organized the whole event in aid of
Hendra’s nominated charity.
The Park staff and owners then organised raffles, games, fun nights and
other events to raise money and inform locals as well as holiday-makers
of this special cause for Cornwall.
If you have a crazy way to get Joe's web address out
there or a 2009 event to raise money for Precious Lives in memory of
Joe then email info@joeway.co.uk. To see why Cornwall needs a children's hospice then look on Joe's website www.joeway.co.uk
