1. Explore one of Cornwall’s many gardens in bloom
Cornwall’s unique climate means that plants from all over the world can thrive, with spring being the perfect time to visit¬ - what better way to celebrate the end of winter than to witness one of Cornwall’s gardens in bloom.
There are over 50 gardens to choose from, including the well-known: Eden Project, Lost Gardens of Heligan, and Trebah to the hidden gems such as Lamorran Garden, looking over Falmouth Bay, The Japanese Gardens, near Mawgan Porth and Chygurno, at Lamorna near Penzance which has a global mix of plants accompanied by sea views.
2. Take the Children to one of the many Egg-citing events!
Easter marks the beginning of spring, and attractions all over Cornwall celebrate this with Easter events. Newquay Zoo is holding an Alice in Wonderland themed Easter celebration; Lanhydrock House has an Easter Eggstravaganza with fun for the whole family, and there is an Easter egg hunt and Easter bonnet making at Trerice Manor.
3. Porthleven Food Festival, April 21st
This picturesque small fishing port in Helston attracts over 12, 000 visitors for this day festival where you can enjoy over eighty food stalls showcasing Cornish food along with music and entertainment. The festival’s ethos is to fight the war against food wastefulness and rediscover a world of eating. You can sample local food, watch cooking demonstrations, and best of all on Sunday you are invited to a ‘Leftover Lunch’ in the main marquee – just bring a plate and a knife and fork!
4. Some possibly warm weather!
Dare we jinx it! Often (though not always!) April has welcomed some beautiful and very welcome sunny weather!
5. The Newquay GP Zap Cats are racing, 21st and 22nd of April
Fistral Beach, Newquay, is host to 2 legs of the Zapcat Racing UK Tour and Zapcats have just agreed a 3-year deal to host the race exclusively in Cornwall.
This exciting event involves up to 20 boats ripping through the surf at speeds of up to 50 Mph. There are two rounds over the weekend with racing starting at midday and finishing at 4pm on both Saturday and Sunday.

6. Art8 Newquay Art Festival, 14th – 21st of April
Enjoy the arts with this 8 day festival in Newquay. There are visual artists, performance poets, dance groups, storytellers, film, a vintage fashion show and many more, with events held all around the town. This is the first year of this Festival, so let’s show our support!

8. The West Country Cup 2012, 10th – 14th of April
This terrific event is one of Britain's foremost Easter competitions, celebrating international football and family fun. Based in Newquay, the tournament attracts teams from all over the UK. Teams from Europe and the USA have also participated in the tournament. The 2011 West Country Cup event brought together over 70 teams from 40 different clubs! The competition provides a memorable international family atmosphere for young players, parents and friends with a passion for the world's most popular game.
